The theme that will follow this year’s Sleeping Beauties has been announced as a celebration of Black fashion history.
The Met Gala theme for 2025 has been announced, along with the co-chairs for the upcoming event. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity”, the 2025 gala theme has been dubbed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”.
Alongside Anna Wintour, fashion icons Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton will be co-chairing the 2025 Met Gala, with LeBron James as an honourary co-chair.

The exhibit, inspired also by Miller's book, delves into the history and evolution of Black male style. Focusing on "dandyism" as a refined lifestyle, the exhibition showcases the transformative impact of Black men's fashion from the 18th century to the present. Visitors will explore a diverse collection of clothing, photographs, paintings, and other artifacts that highlight the elegance and cultural significance of Black fashion.
This will be the first museum exhibit to delve into Black dandyism, which makes it a groundbreaking moment for the Costume Institute. As curator Andrew Bolton explains, it's also the first time in decades that the institute has exclusively focused on menswear.
While the official dress code hasn’t been announced yet, it is expected to centre around Black dandyism, and include interpretations of classic menswear and streetwear from black history and culture. The decision to celebrate Black style is a significant milestone in the Gala’s history, and gives an immensely influential yet underrepresented group the opportunity to be celebrated.
