The hourglass silhouette is back in full force, seen in cinched waistcoats and blazers that offer tailored, figure-flattering looks with a contemporary twist on classic shapes. With social media driving its spike in demand, expect to see fashion enthusiasts embracing the scarf jacket in chilly weather. The matching scarf and jacket combination looks effortlessly chic, can be dressed up or down, and conveniently eliminates the worry about your accessory being swept away in the wind.

Where Western Meets Boho

Leopard print isn’t going anywhere, but cowhide patterns are set to share the spotlight. Western-inspired fashion elements, with their wild yet chic appeal, are key this season. Think suede, studs, square-toe and moto boots, and fringed accessories. Suede appears in everything from jackets to tote bags, pairing perfectly with the resurgence of bootcut flare jeans to create a balanced silhouette. Combine these items with off-the-shoulder baggy tees and floaty blouses, and you’ve entered the realm of boho chic. Chloé’s AW24 collection has anchored the boho revival in high fashion, showcasing a refined yet laid-back style.

Greens And Rich Reds

Green and red - for autumn? Groundbreaking.

These earthy shades are synonymous with autumn for a reason, and this year is no different. Deep forest greens and oxblood create a rich, comforting, and timeless autumnal palette. Less expectedly, the vibrant and playful chartreuse is also having its moment, building on its popularity from the viral “brat summer” trend. This bold hue is surprisingly versatile and contributes a fresh twist to the season’s typical colour scheme. Expect this palette to be spread across leather jackets, bags, and boots, elevating the season’s usual black leather looks.

Statement Accessories

Legwear is getting a major update with the rise of patterned and colourful tights. Bold prints and vibrant pigments are transforming tights from afterthoughts to focal points of outfits. The comeback of knee-high socks also offers a preppy chic vibe. Bags are for making statements this season. We’re seeing a resurgence of iconic bags such as the Balenciaga City Bag and the Chloé Paddington, along with East-West bags - wider than they are tall - and Miu Miu’s leather designs. Play into the nostalgia with personal bag charms, and keep an eye out for interesting details like fringes and eyelets.

Highland Fling And Print Mixing

Inspired by the Scottish Highlands, this aesthetic is all about tweed, herringbones, and argyle patterns - an elegant escape to the countryside, complete with oversized coats, padded gilets, and Wellington boots. Checks are ubiquitous at this time of year, but in 2024 they feel more refined and sophisticated. These styles are perfect for combining with other bold patterns, including the popular leopard print. Multicolour, multi-print, and contrasting shapes will make your autumnal outfits both wearable and dramatic.
