The show was a joyful celebration of life and Hearst’s work for the brand. From sculptural garments to floral inspirations, it truly was a show to be remembered.

It has been three years since the Uruguayan-born designer joined the heritage brand as a fashion designer. In such a short amount of time, Hearst managed to not only make Chloé the first (and only) luxury brand to earn the B-Corp certification, but she also deeply implemented her creative mind through an emphasis on indigenous craftsmanship.

The show opened with a series of looks in shades of white, beige, and brown, which included flowing dresses, cropped tops, and wide-leg trousers in linen, cotton, and silk. Botanical prints were inspired by wildflowers that grow on Hearst's family ranch in Uruguay, and the silhouettes were both feminine and practical.

As it progressed, the colours became more vibrant and the prints more daring. Dresses were adorned in bold floral prints, skirts in lush tropical patterns, and blouses in delicate butterfly motifs. Hearst also incorporated elements of her Uruguayan heritage into the collection, with looks that featured gaucho-inspired ponchos and vests.

One of the highlights of the collection was a series of looks made from recycled materials. Hearst used recycled denim to create patchworked skirts and jackets, and recycled polyester to create flowing dresses and tops. She also worked with artisans in Uruguay to create unique pieces, such as a poncho made from recycled wool and a skirt made from recycled plastic bottles.

Despite the legacy she leaves behind, Hearst’s final show was far from a sad experience. A celebration of life and joy, the show finished with the designer dancing samba in between the collection she had so thoroughly created and under the rhythm of an orchestra from the Mangueira School in Rio. An extension of the joyful collection, this final show left people smiling and yearning to see her next steps.

We bid farewell to Gabriela Hearst, who will now be able to concentrate solely on her namesake brand.
