The British Fashion Council (BFC) announced today that its Chief Executive, Caroline Rush, will be stepping down from her role after 17 years at the helm. Rush has been instrumental in elevating the profile of British fashion on the global stage and will be greatly missed by the industry.
Rush joined the BFC in 2007 and has since overseen significant growth and development of the organization. Under her leadership, the BFC has developed and grown numerous initiatives, including the Fashion Trust, the British Fashion Awards and of course London Fashion Week. These events have provided a platform for British designers to showcase their work to a global audience and have helped to cement London's reputation as a fashion capital.
"It has been an absolute privilege to lead the British Fashion Council over the past 17 years," Rush said in a statement. "I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and I am confident that the BFC will continue to thrive in the years to come." The BFC's Board of Directors will now begin the process of selecting Rush's successor. In the meantime, Deputy Chief Executive Sarah Mower will be stepping in to serve as interim CEO.
Rush's departure marks the end of an era for the BFC. However, her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and influence the future of British fashion.
