Although the show has yet to have an exact location announced, The collection is set to be unveiled on December 7th, with the Illustrious French Maison choosing Manchester as the next city in which to grace its presence.

Could Manchester become the new fashion capital of the UK? As Chanel has announced their next Métiers d’Art collection to take place in the Northern city, it's safe to say that Chanel believes the city to at least be a hub for the fashion industry. Following spectacular past destinations such as Dakar, Tokyo, New York, Shanghai or Salzburg, there is no doubt that the house will manage to transport us to another world once again.

Known as the cultural epicentre of Northern England thanks to its notorious rave scene and home of Britpop, Manchester rose to fortune thanks to its textile manufacture during the industrial revolution. It used to be the centre of the cotton industry, granting it the name of “Cottonopolis”. As mentioned by the brand’s statement release, Chanel aims at presenting “in cities and places that inspire the house, from Tokyo to New York, via Dakar last year, this collection bears witness to the historic commitment of Chanel to this exceptional artisanal heritage and its influence around the world.”

England has already been on Chanel’s radar, as the brand presented its most recent jewellery collection in London. Gabrielle Chanel was also known for her ties with the British elite, thanks to her relations with polo player Arthur “Boy” Capel, and the Second Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor.

Since 2002, The Métiers d’Arts shows have aimed at celebrating the ‘savoir-faire’ and craft that have ultimately elevated Chanel to a heritage brand with global renown. Acquired through its Paraffection subsidiary, each process of the making of each garment, from ornamentation and buttons to the crafting of fabric flowers and glove making, will be showcased.
