Saks Potts SS24
Lattimier says no to office dress codes, 7 Days Active believes in glamorous sportswear, A. Roege Hove brought back peak sensuality and Saks Potts predicts a rainy summer: here is what you miss from Copenhagen Fashion Week Day 1.
Can you hear the bells? It sounds like fashion weeks are back for another round. Whilst Spring-Summer 24 will continue in early September with New York, London, Milano, and finally Paris. Copenhagen, fashion’s new prodigy, slowly kicks us off. Considered the 5th global fashion week, the Danish capital holds a very exclusive space within the fashion industry. Their unique positioning regarding sustainability since the unveiling of their action plan, counting 18 requirements, has allowed them to showcase some of today’s most innovative and forward-thinking brands.
A. Roege Hove
Kicking off on Monday, August 7th, four brands paved the way for a highly exciting week. First off, A. Roege Hove, a conceptual knitwear brand, delivered an elegant yet highly sensual collection thanks to subtly exposed skin, intricate draping technics, and a harmonious mix of bold and soft colours. Opening the show was a see-through sheer tank top embedded with silver beads and styled with a knee-length - also see-through - draped grey skirt, and flip-flops. The collection exuded effortless sensuality whilst excluding the usual voyeuristic look of transparent garments. With a total of 25 looks, Amalia Røge did not only demonstrate great technical skills but also a unique vision of contemporary silhouettes. Alongside the wool, already present last season, the designer introduced Circulose, a sustainable material made out of 100% textile waste.

Latimmier
It is fair to say that the Finnish-born designer of Latimmier delivered the best performance of the day - and maybe the week, who knows - thanks to its office wear-inspired, yet norm-challenging collection. Opening with Sweet Charity’s musical song “Big Spender” the designer unveiled a grandiose showcase guided by his drag queen personality, Anna Conda. Drawing inspiration from the queer legacy of ballroom culture, Latimmier aims at exploring the portrayal and performance of masculinities through fashion. This collection, a satirical portrayal of men in power in North American films and television (in other words, the fashion equivalent of American Psycho), delivered beautiful, humorous and shredded looks that fully dismantled the masculine codes of office wear. Thanks to cut-off pantsuits which looked like thigh boots, shredded shirts and pants, and subtle lingerie details. Latimmier offered not only a beautiful collection but also a strong exploration of gender performance.

Saks Potts
Despite the rain, the day finished off with Saks Potts. Hosted by the sea, the show delivered a guide for summer travelling packing. Bright colours, swimwear as ready-to-wear, glittering sequins, metallic silver ensemble and casual wear, Saks Potts was an ode to potential rainy summer.

With such a strong first day, Copenhagen promises to be full of surprises and unmissable new talents to follow.
