Coperni Presents A Tech Infused Collection

By Valentine Fabre

Coperni SS24

Famous for their buzzing performances, the French brand delivered a new contemporary collection filled with technology memorabilia and futuristic innovations.

On September 27th, the brand unveiled a picture of their iconic Swipe bag that doubled as a - now vintage - CD player. The bag then appeared on the catwalk, alongside embedded speakers and Humane AI pins. Held at the IRCAM, a French institution dedicated to the research of music and sound, the collection was an exploration of negative spaces through subversive office wear.

Inspired by corporate life, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, Coperni’s designers, and the fashion industry favourite duo, presented a minimalist collection that included oversized blazers, delicate silky slip dresses that contrasted with sporty silhouettes. Defying the idea of a dresscode, the garments included transparent tops with denim breast pockets. The sheer tops and skirts added sensuality and depth to the usual mundanity of office wear, whilst the occasional pop of colour contrasted beautifully with the overall neutral tone of the collection.

But the show’s highlight was the not-so-subtle runway soundtrack thanks to the use of sound system particles such as speakers, the buzz-inducing CD-player Swipe bag, as well as the more - obscure - Humane AI Pin. Although not entirely sure of its use, it was described by its creators as a “new type of standalone device with a software platform that harnesses the power of AI to enable innovative personal computing experiences” The two designers believe it is “a beacon of the future, aligning with our vision of forward-thinking fashion.”

An exploration between vintage and new technology, this collection was Coperni at its finest: filled with sleek silhouettes, highly wearable with a slight touch of edginess.
