COS, the London-based fashion brand known for its elevated essentials, presented its SS24 collection with a runway show unlike any other.
Held on March 26th, 2024, in the historic Corsie Sistine in Rome, the event was a celebration of luxurious designs set against a backdrop of rich history. The collection itself embodied this duality. Clean lines and modern silhouettes formed the foundation, reflecting COS's minimalist aesthetic. But there was a playfulness too, with intriguing textures and sculptural elements adding depth and dimension.
This wasn't just everyday wear; it was everyday wear reimagined, with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. Lightness and transparency were themes central to the collection, as flowing fabrics juxtaposed more structured pieces. This created a sense of movement and ease, perfect for the warmer months ahead. The colour palette was equally thoughtful, consisting of neutrals punctuated by pops of colour.
Key pieces included bold looks with hand-pleated shoulders and dramatic fishtail skirts, alongside fluid maxi dresses for a touch of everyday luxury. Tailoring and knitwear embraced modern elements with elongated, hybrid sleeves and sharp, inward-folding lapels. COS pushed the boundaries with techniques like material manipulation, slicing, and bespoke paper moulds for pleating. This resulted in unique surface textures on leather jackets, ballerina flats, and loafers, with hand-painted edges adding a final touch to the wide-leg trousers.
The show saw a flurry of celebrities attend some head to toe in the new collection. From Pamela Anderson and Jack O’Connell to Caro Daur, Minho Choi and Beka Gvishiani (Stylenotcom) it was a success both on and off the runway.
