A pioneer who was a part of the Antwerp Six, a prominent fashion collective from the 80s.

Legendary Belgian designer Dries Van Noten is stepping down from his namesake label after an impressive 38-year run. The news, announced earlier today, marks the end of an era for Van Noten, who has left an undeniable mark on the fashion industry.

Van Noten's decision to step aside stems from a desire to explore new horizons. "I want to shift all my focus to all the things I never had time for," he said in a statement. He also expressed his belief that it's time "to leave room for a new generation of talents to bring their vision to the brand." The designer's final collection for the women's line was presented at Paris Fashion Week just a few weeks ago. His last hurrah for menswear will come in June during the Spring/Summer 2025 shows. The women's collection for Spring/Summer 2025 will be designed by Van Noten's trusted studio team.

Van Noten's legacy is significant. Not only renowned as being a part of the Antwerp Six— a group of iconic Belgian designers —He is also known for his masterful use of colour, his ability to blend old and new aesthetics, and his focus on creating timeless, wearable pieces. His influence can be seen across the fashion world, and his departure, which comes as a shock to many will leave a void in the industry.

While a successor has not yet been announced, the search is underway. Filling Van Noten's shoes will be no small feat, but the chosen designer will have the opportunity to build upon the incredible foundation he has laid.

Dries Van Noten may be stepping down, but his impact on fashion will continue to be felt for years to come.
