In honour of Ferragamo’s heritage, Maximilian Davis and photographer Tyler Mitchell released a Renaissance-esque campaign. In partnership with Florence’s Uffizi Gallery.

This campaign, for Maximilian Davis’ sophomore collection as Ferragamo’s creative director, was shot by New York-based photographer Tyler Mitchell, also known for his work in Vogue’s Harry Style cover. An exploration of the Italian brand’s origin, the campaign was developed in collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery, which landed the paintings that served as backdrops.

Dressed in an elegant ankle-length white draped dress, Danish model Mona Tougaard stands in front of Francesco Granacci’s 'Joseph Conducted to Prison' as if part of the artwork. Each picture of Ferragamo Fall 23 campaign gives an identical impression: contemporary models blending into Renaissance paintings.

From Giorgio Vasari’s Portrait of 'Alessandro de’ Medici' to Paolo Veronese’s 'Annunciation' and Giovanni Bellini’s 'Holy Allegory', the campaign used 15th and 16th-century artwork as backdrops to unite the brand’s Florentine origins with the city's intrinsic connection to the Renaissance.

Following a few years making shoes for early Hollywood stars in the 1910s and early 1920s, Ferragamo emigrated back home, to Florence in 1927 where he incorporated his eponymous label. Maximilian Davis explained in a press release that “The Renaissance is hardwired into Florence, and Florence is hardwired into Ferragamo. At this time of a new beginning at the house, it made perfect sense to reclaim the cradle of the Renaissance as our spiritual home, and to harness the deep, artistic spirit of this city to showcase the new collection.”

The campaign includes items from the brands' Fall 23 collection such as draped metallic dresses, faux fur coats, a long leather brown trench, and a red knitted balloon-sleeved bodysuit.
