London Fashion Week


London Fashion Week is one of the most influential events on the global fashion calendar, drawing crowds from around the world. Held biannually, it offers a platform for both renowned designers and emerging talent to showcase their latest collections and make their mark on the fashion scene. This year LFW celebrates its 40th anniversary, commencing on the 12th of September and concluding on the 17th of September, making this season a must-watch for fashion enthusiasts. Here’s a glimpse of what to expect from the week.

Burberry is always a must-see at London Fashion Week. An icon in its own right, the brand has become an integral part of the event, consistently delivering standout presentations and garnering a massive crowd of the who's who in fashion, solidifying its status as a central highlight. Expect a combination of classic elegance and contemporary flair, which defines Burberry’s renowned style on the global stage. The brand will present its SS25 collection on Monday 16th of September to catch.


Another standout at LFW is Irish designer Paul Costelloe, who’s also a leading figure in both the Irish and British fashion scenes. Since its inception in 1979, the brand has had decades of great success in the industry and Costelloe stands as one of the most seasoned figures on the LFW roster. As London Fashion Week celebrates its 40th anniversary, it’s a serendipitous milestone for Costelloe, who also marks four decades since his debut on the same stage. Look forward to a collection infused with the spirit of celebration, a tribute to his journey and LFW’s legacy, with the show scheduled for the 13th of September.

Harris Reed is always one for making waves, with his gender-fluid designs. The British-American designer is celebrated for his signature demi-couture gowns, which have been worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Harry Styles and Lil Nas X. Things to expect from the show are: dramatic silhouettes, vibrant colours, and of course avant-garde designs, all inspired by nonbinary fashion and self-expression as Reed brings a fresh perspective to the runway.

 

Another brand to watch this year is Skepta’s streetwear brand, MAINS, which made its runway debut in 2023. Known for its effortlessly cool aesthetic, the brand has become a favourite among fashion-forward individuals. carrying the spirit of contemporary British street style, MAINS has a way of fusing urban influences with bold, minimalist designs. This combination of style and substance makes the brand arguably one of the most exciting features at LFW this season. Expect to see the brand’s new collection showcased on the 14th of September, bringing its signature streetwear energy to the runway.

Beyond the cutting-edge catwalks, there are several notable collaborations and fashion exhibitions during LFW that simply cannot be missed. These exhibitions offer unique insights and unforgettable highlights that, are essential to the overall experience of London Fashion Week. For starters, The V&A's NAOMI: In Fashion exhibition which celebrates Naomi Campbell's 40-year career, features over 100 legendary looks, including pieces from Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and Vivienne Westwood. The exhibit also highlights her activism and influence on the fashion industry. Although it began earlier this year, the exhibition will remain open throughout Fashion Week, running from 22 June 2024 to 6 April 2025, ensuring that visitors can still catch it during the event.

 

As the main partner of London Fashion Week, 1664 Blanc will observe the 40th anniversary by introducing its signature blue bottle to Covent Garden’s East Piazza with a pop-up experience on the 13th and 14th of September. Guests will enjoy an immersive LFW experience indulging in the taste of 1664 Blanc, while viewing limited-edition print, crafted in collaboration with British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker. With surprise elements woven into the experience, it suggests at a full sensory journey.


As the festivities continue, H&M will launch its AW24 collection with an electrifying party in London on the 12th of September. The celebration will include both music and fashion on the night. Featuring a special performance by Charli XCX and DJ sets from Jamie xx and Sherelle. Likely to be the highlight of the season, the event sets the stage for a memorable fashion week.


LFW’s 40th anniversary promises to be an all encompassing whirlwind of fun, diverse collections, and innovation showcasing London's fashion community at its best. From standout designers and exciting events to immersive experiences, the week is set to be a spectacular celebration of fashion’s past, present, and future.
