After the departure of Dries Van Noten earlier this year, the brand appoints a new creative director.

Six months after Dries Van Noten presented his final collection with his eponymous brand in Paris, and bowed out into retirement, the house has announced Julian Klausner as its new creative director. The Belgian designer has worked alongside Van Noten on the brand’s women’s collections for over 5 years, and is a successor that is sure to keep the brand’s creative vision focused.

The founder himself has expressed his, “complete confidence in Julian’s creativity and vision,” citing his, “deep understanding of the brand and its values”. The house’s statement earlier this week emphasised that Klausner’s appointment, “represents a natural connection between the past and the future.”

The appointment of Julian Klausner, a young Belgian designer who graduated from La Cambre in 2016 and previously worked at Maison Margiela, reflects the Puig-owned house's focus on internal growth. Klausner joined Dries Van Noten in 2018 and has steadily risen through the ranks. He now assumes the creative director role, a significant step in his career.

“The incomparable legacy that Dries is leaving behind is monumental, serving as an endless source of precious inspiration. I look forward to embarking on new ambitious challenges while honouring the heritage we all cherish,” Klausner said.

Klausner will debut his inaugural women's collection as Dries Van Noten's creative director on March 5th during Paris Fashion Week. The house will forgo a traditional runway show for its January men's collection, opting instead for a lookbook directed by Klausner. His first men's runway show is scheduled for June 2025.
