Kimhekim Returns To The Essence Of Fashion

The collection heavily emphasized structure and detailing through sharp tailoring and not-so-subtle embellishments.

Held in a Parisian high school’s gymnasium, Kimhekim’s show opened with a giant, empty, black crinoline covered with small ribbons thanks to a dozen pairs of hands wearing white lab coats. The first look set the tone for an exploration of structure, shapes, and the juxtaposition between them. As the ninth instalment of the OBSESSION series, this collection titled “Noir et Blanc” aimed at fusing black and white as a representation of the Yin and Yang’s interconnected nature.

The designer’s extensive knowledge of tailoring and craftsmanship was central to the collection as it included complex, cinched waist, shapes that would let the design's structure speak for itself. Layered corsets as well as crinoline-inspired chains, paired with ribbons skirts made up a significant part of the collection, whilst complex yet subtle tuxedo pieces matched the sensuality of sheer skirts and tops.

Although pearls and ribbons were central to the overall vision, Kiminte's idea of craft went even further this season with the use of white hair to create braided dresses. Other standout pieces included dresses and tops made entirely out of the brands logo tags.

The entire collection was an elegant display, with a focus on details in every piece. This included a collaboration with ASICS for shoes, which unveiled pearly, experimental sneakers.
