The BA Fashion Design students from London College of Fashion showed their final projects to the public at one of the year's most anticipated student shows.
Staged at Protein Studios, the industrial-style venue in East London, LCF Class of 2023 showcased a total of 113 looks from the next generation of fashion designers. Walking in the footsteps of notorious designers such as J.W Anderson or Jimmy Choo, the show is an occasion for the students to be seen by industry leaders.
Walking along a techno soundtrack by Luigino D’Andrea, the models marched down the runway in various garments shifting between Rick Owens-like post apocalyptic, revised office wear and inflatable streetwear, proving the students' wide range of inspiration - as well as aspirations. Deconstruction seemed to be a central theme down the runway. Between unhemmed fabrics, rough cuts and asymmetrical layering, the show felt like a fever dream of the future: a world where patchwork, and shapelessness will prevail.
It is safe to say that the fashion industry is in good hands, knowing that those 100+ students will be the next generation of the industry, with the graduate show as a testimony of their strong creativity, as well as an undeniable understanding of what the future of fashion has to offer.
