The Danish fashion brand Saks Potts, founded in 2014 by best friends Cathrine Saks and Barbara Potts, announced on Tuesday that it will shut down in Spring 2025. The pair expressed gratitude for the success of their brand but shared plans to pursue new creative ventures as they enter their 30s, explaining they feel the label has reached its pinnacle.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, featuring an opening slide reading "SAKS POTTS FOREVER <3," the founders wrote, "From the very beginning, we have strived to deliver what people didn’t expect, and this decision feels like staying true to exactly that.".
The brand’s journey began when Saks and Potts, lifelong friends, decided to start their business at just 19 and 20 years old, pooling together less than €1,000 to get it off the ground. Over the years, the label has experienced steady growth, consistently increasing sales by 25% each year. In fact, 2024 is expected to be their most successful year yet, marking a high point as they prepare to close this chapter.

Reflecting on their decision, Cathrine Saks shared, “Barbara and I started Saks Potts when we were very young — we were 19 and 20 years old and we’ve done this throughout our whole 20s...It truly has been the best 10 years of our lives, but we are also now at the stage where we feel it’s time to look at the next 10 years. We’re both creative people and want to continuously reinvent ourselves.".
Saks Potts gained a reputation for its bold, colourful designs, with its standout piece, the Foxy coat, becoming a signature item. The Copenhagen-based label has become a favourite among stars, with names like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, and Beyoncé wearing its creations. Its designs have also been celebrated in leading fashion publications, solidifying its influence within the industry.
In the coming months, Saks Potts will conclude sales of its final collection while honouring its shared journey with employees, collaborators, and devoted customers. As they prepare to close this chapter, the founders plan to take time to reflect and explore new creative opportunities.
