Open to visit at the Design Museum, the "REBEL" exhibition is an exploration of London's fashion over the years.
The British Fashion Council's (BFC) REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion exhibition is indeed a landmark survey of contemporary fashion culture. Spanning three decades, the exhibition celebrates the transformative impact of the BFC's NEWGEN programme, which has nurtured and championed some of the most influential fashion designers of our time.
Taking visitors on a journey through London's fashion scene, the exhibition explores a variety of different periods. From the early days of punk and New Romanticism to the current wave of sustainable and innovative design, it features over 350 garments and accessories from over 150 designers, including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Feben, Bianca Saunders, Simone Rocha, and many more.

As you walk through the well-thought-out exhibition, you're almost transported through the years, as each section emulates and highlights the groundbreaking work of some of fashion's most celebrated figures including their creations, characterised by boldness, experimentation, and a refusal to conform, embodying the essence of London's rebellious fashion spirit. "REBEL" is more than just an exhibition, it is a showcase of the amazing talent birthed in London and how the city continues to be fastidious in its support of both emerging and renowned designers.
The exhibition is a remarkable tribute to the power of fashion and the legacy of London as a global fashion capital. It's also a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the unwavering spirit of rebellion that has defined London fashion for the past 30 years and continues to shape the future of fashion. Open at the Design Museum in London until February 11, 2024. Visitors can expect a thought-provoking experience, whilst immersing themselves in the rich history of London fashion.
