Amongst one of the most anticipated debuts of the upcoming fashion month in September, Peter Hawkings's Tom Ford is on everyone's lips. As the months close in it's already clear that a new and exciting direction for Tom Ford is underway.
As many new creative directors who have recently taken) the helm of renowned brands will share their vision this September, Hawkings has already set the tone of newness for Tom Ford by moving the brands (fashion week) base from New York to Milan. Though the brands core is deeply rooted in American fashion, as the brand consistently positions itself as a global luxury label it is safe t say that the move to Milan is a timely one. “Italian craftsmanship and excellence have been a source of inspiration for our collections, and I am delighted to be showing during Milan Fashion Week.” Hawkings said in a press release earlier this year.
Both Ford and Hawkings have deep ties to the European city, a place where Ford rose to global renown as creative director of Gucci and Hawkings beginning his career working under Ford at Gucci in 1998. The move, bold and daring as it may be could mark unprecedented changes to be seen at Tom Ford under Hawkings's reign. Tom Ford and his chairman, Domenico De Sole, will reportedly be staying (solely) as advisors to the new creative director until the end of the year guiding him through his debut collection.
