As LFW finally comes to an end, here are a few trends to pick up on right now to get ready for the upcoming season. Between pastel green, flat footwear, and floral patterns, here is what the designers had in store for us.
Pastel Green For Relaxation
Bottega green is a thing of the past as we welcome the new, more relaxing version of fashion's favourite colour: pastel green. From Simone Rocha’s subtly sheer dresses, covered with bows to Yuhan Wang’s cute embroidered mini skirt and corset set, pastel green is back stronger than ever. While green has been at the forefront of the fashion industry because of its association with nature and the planet, this more diluted version is proof that the colour keeps on renewing itself for the sake of style.
Flats Over High Heels
Flat shoes were seen all over the runways this LFW. The beginning of a new, more conformable era seems to finally be here. Hand in hand with the recent re-emergence of ballet flats, this season’s footwear was flatter than an ironing board. In Edeline Lee’s latest collection, translated into highly minimalist and pointy ballerinas, while Molly Goddard opted for knee-high lace-up shoes. On the other hand, Supriya Lele stated that not only were flat shoes back for good, but that water shoes were the way to go for a more sporty look.
Flowers Are For Wearing
Some will say that floral patterns are old-fashioned, but London Fashion Week said otherwise. Inspired by a desire to bring peace and relaxation to people’s lives, floral prints have been a major part of this season. Erdem’s Devonshire-inspired collection was the perfect 'cottage core' fit and Holzeiweler's designs had a contemporary rendition of the old fashion print. botanical prints are about to be a big part of our closets, so it's not too late to go scavenging through your grandmother's vintage pieces.
Lace It Up
it seems laces aren't just for shoes anymore as designers have found another cool use for them. Strings wrapped around models’ bodies in a fashionable manner were a core concept of this S/S24 season. For Susan Fang, they transformed into net-like garments that were wrapped carefully around the stomach and the arms. At Chet Lo, it was a central theme, as each look was accessorised with metallic strings replacing sleeves and necklaces.
It is fair to say that London Fashion Week was filled with unique inspirations for the upcoming Spring/Summer season, that might lead us to draw back to old patterns of dressing.
