From runway to street style, the metallic look has infiltrated every part of the fashion world in the past few months. From beadings to fringe and sequins, our renewed obsession for sparkles and reflective garments goes a lot deeper than a love for glamour.

In recent months, runways have been awash with metallics, from bright gold and silver foil to shimmering paillettes. The trend has been seen at shows varying from Loewe SS23 to Diesel SS23 and Balenciaga AW23, it's clear that the metallic trend is here to stay. There are a few reasons why metallics are having a moment. First, they're a great way to add a touch of glamour and shine to any outfit. Second, they're versatile and can be dressed up or down. And finally, they're perfect for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

However, even off the runway metallic looks have become more pronounced in our society. With concerts taking centre stage this summer, social media has been flooded with handmade rhinestone cowboy hats, DIY Taylor Swift-inspired sparkly dresses, and Beyoncé renaissance-esque shimmering boots. These major three tours since the end of the pandemic, have ignited creativity in concert goers resulting in metallics becoming a major trend of 2023.

Though the world continues to face a number of challenges, including the threat of recession. It is important to remember that fashion is a form of self-expression. It is a way for us to express our hopes, dreams, and desires. And right now, many people are hoping for a brighter future. So go ahead and indulge in some metallic fashion! Let the bright colours and reflective surfaces remind you of better times. And let the dopamine rush give you the energy to face whatever challenges come your way.
