As the final week of fashion month comes to an end here are the three main trends we spotted on the runways all around the French capital.
Paris Fashion Week, the longest and most anticipated fashion event of the year, is the perfect place to spot the latest trends for 2024. From bright reds to floral arrangements, and sculptural shapes, here are the three trends that we think you should keep an eye out for.
Undying Love Of Flowers

Roses are a classic flower, but they can also be seen as overdone or even cliché. However, this season's fashion shows proved that roses can still be used to create innovative and stylish designs. At Balmain, Olivier Rousteing paid homage to the late designer Pierre Balmain's love of roses with sculptural and oversized rose appliqués. Marni took a more avant-garde approach, presenting a dress made out of collaged images of flowers. And Undercover re-imagined dresses as terrariums for roses, creating a truly futuristic look.
These three designers showed that roses can be used to create a wide range of looks, from classic to contemporary.
Painting The Town Red

Red is one of the most iconic colours in fashion, and it's making a comeback this season. Despite being recently labelled as "cheugy," red is still a powerful and glamorous colour that can be used to create stunning looks. At Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli showcased a collection of bright red maxi dresses with sharp cuts and elegant silhouettes. At Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton presented a more emotional collection with iconic leather corsets and velvet-draped dresses in shades of deep red. Both Valentino and McQueen showed that red can be used to create a variety of looks, from classic and elegant to edgy and glamorous.
Sporty Yet Luxurious

Everyone loves to be comfortable from time to time, but that doesn't mean you can't still look glamorous. Cargo pants and maxi trench coats have made a big comeback this season, and they're the perfect way to achieve a comfortable yet stylish look. At Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello drew inspiration from female aviators Amelia Earhart and Adrienne Bolland to create edgy and contemporary cargo pants in short lengths and beige colours. On the other hand, Dries Van Noten delivered maxi trench coats perfectly matched with same-coloured knee-length skirts and long shorts.
Sculptural Silhouettes

Fashion at its best is absolute art, and designers at Paris Fashion Week really understood the assignment. Whether it was Balenciaga's usual over-the-top yet highly sharp and sculptural shapes, Duran Lantink's architectural and complex designs or Anrealage's futuristic and space-aged influenced collection that unveiled sharp and unique shapes, the age for sculptural garments is back.
Paris Fashion Week has wrapped for another season, and it's clear that Spring/Summer 2024 is all about bold colours and extravagant looks. Paris Fashion Week has left us more inspired than ever to shop our next favourite items.
