September 8th marks the official start of the highly anticipated fashion month. Kicking off with New York Fashion Week, the American capital of fashion promises a week full of emotions. Between those who will not be present, those who are joining again, and the newcomers: here is what to know ahead of the beginning.

The first day of NYFW will kick off with none other than Peter Do’s highly anticipated debut for the iconic minimalist brand Helmut Lang. Although his namesake house will not be showing on the American territory but instead in Paris for the first time, Do’s enthusiasts will still be able to catch a glimpse of his talent on September 8th at 2p.m E.T. CFDA chairman Thom Browne will also be missing from the schedule.

Whilst some will be dearly missed, we must celebrate the return of some iconic brands on this year’s schedule. which includes sustainable labels, Jonathan Cohan, and Gypsy Sport which will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary. Philipp Lim is returning following a three-year hiatus and the king of American fashion, Ralph Lauren will finally be making a comeback on September 8th at 7 pm E.T. The renowned label had left the official schedule to present its collection on its own since 2019.

IMF Fashion Alliance returns for a third year. Launched in 2021, the IMG Fashion Alliance aimed to collaborate with designers to celebrate New York’s fashion brands as well as support brands and retailers following the devastating impact of the pandemic on the sector. This season includes Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte.

Last but not least, the iconic, yet controversial lingerie label Victoria’s Secret is attempting a big comeback during New York Fashion Week thanks to the premiere of its feature, Victoria’s Secret World Tour. The show will be released on Prime Video on September 26th, only a few days after the 'The Super Models' documentary releases on Apple TV+, which will be aired for the first time during NYFW. The show is set to include current supermodels Gigi Hadid, Hayley Beiber, Iris Law, and Lola Moss, and will feature the work of four designers representing four cities: Jenny Fax for Tokyo, Melissa Valdes for Bogotá, Supriya Lele for London and Bubu Ogisi for Lagos.
